You understand Scrooge a little better now, don’t you? Because like you, old Ebenezer was a small business owner. And, yeah, sure there was snow on the ground and carols in the air, but there were still reports to finish and customers who needed stuff! And just because Tiny Tim wants a Christmas goose, he was supposed to get horribly, massively behind? Humbug! The point is, it’s tough being a small business owner at Christmas. You’d like to give your employees a few days off to spend with their families, but sometimes it seems like you can’t afford to. However, if there’s one thing the holidays are about, it’s leaving the stresses of work behind, and appreciating the people around you. And that’s exactly what you should do. If you’re taking a break from work right now to read this, make that break last the rest of the day. Call someone you care about, and wish them a Merry Christmas. Your business will survive, you’ll get the rest you need, and your employees won’t be sitting around Christmas dinner saying stuff like “You won’t believe my boss, she just sent me a work email on Christmas! What a Scrooge!” So Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year from all of us at BFS Capital. You’ve spent a tough year building your business, and you deserve it. When 2016 rolls around and it’s time to put all those plans into action, we – like your business and your rested employees – will be back to help you.
